Frequently Asked Questions About Gridwall

Gridwall (also called grid panel or wire grid) is a metal wire panel system used for displaying merchandise. Panels are typically 2x4, 2x6, or 2x8 feet and accept hooks, shelves, baskets, and sign holders. Gridwall can be wall-mounted, freestanding with legs/bases, or used as room dividers. It is lightweight, affordable, and endlessly reconfigurable.

Freestanding gridwall uses grid legs, T-bases, or L-bases that attach to the bottom of the panel. Connect two panels in a T or L shape for stability. For a gondola-style aisle display, connect panels back-to-back using connectors. Most gridwall setups require no tools โ€” legs and connectors snap or screw into the grid wire intersections.

The most popular gridwall accessories are peg hooks (for hanging packaged products), waterfall hooks (for clothing), wire shelves (for folded items), acrylic bins (for small loose items), sign holders, and faceout brackets. Start with an assortment of hooks and shelves, then add specialized accessories based on your merchandise.

Standard gridwall panels hold 50-100 pounds total when properly supported by bases or wall brackets. Individual hooks hold 5-15 pounds each. Wire shelves hold 15-30 pounds per shelf. For heavier items, use reinforced heavy-duty gridwall panels and ensure the base is weighted or mounted to the wall.

Gridwall is excellent for trade shows, flea markets, and temporary retail โ€” it is lightweight, portable, and sets up in minutes without tools. For outdoor use, choose chrome or black powder-coated gridwall for rust resistance. Gridwall panels nest flat for easy transport and storage between events.
