Countertop Displays

Countertop displays are ideal for small, high-margin, impulse-buy items: jewelry, watches, lighters, phone accessories, cosmetics, candy, small electronics, and collectibles. Place them near the checkout counter for last-minute add-on purchases. Products priced under $50 tend to convert best as countertop impulse buys.

The main types are: acrylic risers and stands (for showcasing individual items), rotating displays (for maximizing product exposure in minimal space), locking countertop cases (for valuable items), tiered display stands (for showing multiple items at different heights), and dump bins (for loose items like candy or accessories).

Follow the pyramid principle: place your most eye-catching or highest-value item at the highest point, with supporting items at lower levels. Use tiered risers to create visual depth. Keep displays organized and not overcrowded — leave some negative space so each product stands out. Rotate displayed products weekly to keep the presentation fresh.

Reserve at least 40-50 percent of your checkout counter for the POS system and bagging area. Use the remaining space for countertop displays. A single 12-18 inch wide countertop case or riser is enough for most stores. Do not overcrowd the checkout area — customers need space to place items and complete their purchase comfortably.
